After the Ending – Lindsey Fairleigh and Lindsey Pogue

This book, set in the present day, follows two teens who are not only dealing with the transformation from teenager to adult, but they are faced with a severe flu killing people they love and loathe.

Zoe Cartwright and Dannielle O’Connor are best friends who are dealing with the aftermath of the disaster and trying to cross country to get back to each other. They are fighting the odds against survival in an unknown world, sometimes with people they trust, and other times battling the elements on their own.

This book was oddly addictive. I have to admit it wasn’t perfectly written and it wasn’t the most complex storyline either, but the characters were relatable and it was easy to feel the tension in the situations arising. There were a few times it rubbed me up the wrong way, I don’t want to go into too much detail with fear of dropping spoilers.

I loved both characters equally, which is an odd feeling for me because I usually pick one over the other. I really did enjoy reading this book, even with the small gripes, I carried on and I am looking forward to reading the second book in the series.

I would suggest this book to any post-apocalyptic newbie, it’s easy to read and easy to follow, with enough hooks to keep them interested and then to branch off into the bigger harder hitting series, one of which I will be covering later in the month of reviews.

After the Ending did a great job of giving the Young Adult readers something to sink their teeth into that isn't filled to the brim of vampires, werewolves and a twisted love triangle that never seemed to resolve itself.

If you have any questions about this book, then please get in touch, also if you have read it and you want to discuss anything, then please message comment on my facebook. It would be interesting to hear other people’s views on this book!

The next book I will be reviewing is Bloodbound by Erin Lindsey, which will be released tomorrow.
