The Dark Heroine – Abigail Gibbs
Violet Lee witnessed a brutal attack after finding herself in Trafalgar Square. She was the only witness the men didn’t account for, and in a fit of panic she tried to run but was kidnapped by them. The man in question, Kasper, was actually a seductive vampire Prince.
I enjoyed this book because of the constant bickering between Violet and Kasper. There was no end to the action, but there was enough emotion to keep me hooked and interested in the characters. There wasn’t a time where I felt like I wanted more, or I felt like the plot line was lacking anything to move the story along.
There were some really hard hitting emotional scenes amongst the sarcasm and quick wit, which had me coming back for more. Once one problem was solved another three appeared, but they weren’t shoehorned in to make it seem like the writer was running out of material. Every decision made was well thought out and it progressed the characters really nicely all the way through. This also stopped me from favouring one character too much over the other because they were both well developed and they all made decisions I agreed and disagreed with.
The ending was predictable, but even though I expected it, I was still held on the edge of my seat waiting for all of the issues to be rounded off. I didn’t want it to end, so I was delighted to find out there is a book 2.
I would suggest this book to any fantasy lover, any vampire fiend or romance enthusiast. But I would keep in mind there are sexual references and mature themes throughout, so 17+ would be my suggestion, but I am sure you know your beloved bookworms better than I. I just have to add I am 23 and it made me blush.
I hope this has piqued your interest, and if you have any questions about the book then please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Next, I will be reviewing After the Ending, for all your Post-apocalyptic fans! Stay tuned and the next will be out tomorrow!
