Talking to other writers about the topic of writing helped me a lot, it gave me confidence in my self because I found people who were genuinely interested and wanted to know about your experience and knowledge. The more I talked about it the less worried I was, it gave me the chance to talk about my ideas and understand the different styles of writing and how to cross genres and what works best for audiences and for myself.

It's important to find these groups, facebook groups or friends with similar interests to you, so they can help if you get stuck, especially with writer's block, they can really help you get out of it, instead of struggling on your own. Plus, editing workshops were a life saver when I was at University, not just for my coursework, but also for my persona; work. It gave me chance to try out new ideas, theories, and styles. They would give honest feedback and tell you where you have gone wrong, but most importantly for self-esteem what you have done right and what does work.

The Facebook groups have really helped me, especially when other writers are struggling with a similar thing to me. It gave me a chance to have a chat and see what they did to get out of a rut, or rough spot. It also gave me a chance to help people too, writers need to stick together, from every walk of life, whether they are traditionally published, self-published, not quite there yet or starting out, they can all help. Get involved and soon you will find people who can help and understand your problems, it also just gives you a chance to vent rage of writing and editing.
