A Little Piece of Inspiration

I was watching a programme the other morning that questioned whether we valued being Englishmen more or less than we valued being a Brit. I was thinking about it and the first thing I say to people who ask who I am, the reply is always the same. I am always a Yorkshire Lass. And I will always be from Yorkshire no matter where I am or where I move. I am British and I am an English woman. There is no difference to me. Just like I am a writer a reader and now a full-time worker. It ranks with what you believe in yourself to be. What do you feel like you are?
Saying you’re a writer is a true thing it’s something you do because it means a lot to you, you are a reader because you believe in freedom, you believe in adventure and discovering. Being a writer is more than just sitting at a desk and putting ink to paper, or letters to a blank space on a screen. It’s believing in your heart that you have something worth saying, it’s having confidence in your words to pull you through everyday life. Having the confidence to hold your head high and take on the slash comments of people who don’t understand.
We have all had those comments, oh it must be great being a writer, you don’t have to do anything. Oh, so you do just sit at your desk all day then? That must be marvelous.
Trust me, life is easier without these, but life would be boring if you didn’t have something to prove to the people who might not believe in you at the beginning. Life isn’t just about finding something to do with it, it’s all about finding something your passionate about, whether it’s writing, reading, baking, driving, racing. Something out there calls to your heart, it only takes one step to find it. It only takes a bold move to find it. My mum has always said she believes in fate a little bit, and up until I went to uni I never believed her. But then stepping out on my own, feeling the independence and seeing the amazing things happening around me, I could feel myself growing into the person I am now. The people I have met have helped me see who I am and writing has helped me understand that too.
If you love to write, don’t let people question who you are or how good you might be. It isn’t for them to decide it, it’s for you to find out your limits and find the elements you need to create something, something so beautiful and glorious you’ll be smiling from first light to last. Whatever you do with your time, make sure it makes you happy, find out and experience all the things you want to.
Enjoy life and don’t regret things that might seem like a mistake at the time. They will become your best moments of growth, you will see and understand soon enough.
