How important is your front cover

Everyone judges a book by its cover, a cliche, I know. But everyone does. I'm guilty of such a thing, especially when I'm flicking through Amazon. I'm always looking for a strange looking front cover, something that's odd and intriguing.
It's not always about the content to steer people towards your book, the cover has to highlight the main theme in your book.
For example, Adam Croft, Too Close for Comfort, the cover tells me it I going to be a dark story, I already knew it was a crime novel, but with the knife covered in blood, it just reiterates what could happen.
Cl Bevil, The Moon Trilogy, I found these books and I couldn't stop looking at the front covers. They are simple but down give anything away about the story. I wasn't sure what was going on, but I got the series because the cover sold it to me straight away.
I decided to get some help for Phaser's front cover, E Rachel Hardcastle did the cover for my Ebook. I knew what I want from it, but all the ones I tried, just didn't do the book justice. There were a few elements I needed on the cover, the wolf, and the trees. I wanted a different colour, orange with the slight green trees really stands out against other books. Its bright and vibrant and the wolf stands out.
I am bringing out a paperback on the 2nd of February 2018, which will be exactly 6 months after the release of the ebook. I went to a graphic designer for this cover. He created something truly wonderful, but no peaks until it's out. So get it jotted in your journals, diaries and noted in your phones!
Your cover had to display your book and catch the eye of the reader. Don't be too hasty to make your cover either, take your time and contemplate every angle. Give it time because covers are just an important as the content, if the cover is wrong it might not sell, the readers might not find it interesting enough, or intriguing. You are relying on the cover and draw them in.
