As a Disney movie, I rate this movie very high on my list of movies to watch. I am a huge Disney fan, I love them. I love them all!
So straight into it then. It starts with a loud and clear message for kids, well for anyone actually. Standing up to people who say you can't do something. To fight for what you believe in. It is a very valuable message for youngsters to listen to and understand. Through the movie, they watch a character who, if she listened to others would be destined to be in a job she hated with everything she's got in her. She works and pushes herself to become the best she can be and finally get what she wants. But it doesn't give the audience a false creation of a world that it only takes a small amount of hard work, there are other obstacles to fight through. Such as when she is assigned to the parked audit, it isn't what she wanted but she in the job she loves, so to prove herself she fights through the pain, even when it gets her down, she still pushes through.
but of course it is Disney, there is always a larger message beyond the troubles and trials of the main characters. As the movie progresses, it becomes apparent there is something going on in the city, and Judy Hopps is one of the cops on the job to figure things out. When the predator animals start going missing it is hard to decipher what is going on, but the deeper the movie gets the more apparent it becomes, the lesson Disney is showcasing is, they are teaching kids about racial issues they might come across in the real world. Taking just one example is Hopps making friends with a fox, even though she has been told for years they are bad and can cause problems. She was attacked by a fox when she was younger. It is about seeing the person for who they are not what they look like, or who they might be associated with.
So carrying on with the movie, looking a little bit lighter than the messages it might hold, is the movie a good movie. YES! Even though it is a Disney movie there is a lot of thinks target straight at the adults. Nick Wild is actually a con artist, he is buying ice lollies to sell on to other customers, then selling on the wood for a higher price. Children might not pick up on this as a bad thing but it will amuse the parents. There is also a huge Breaking Bad duplicate further in the movie.
There is literally nothing about this movie I can fault. Once again, Disney have struck gold with their story writing, characters, and even their world building situations. They have created a world that replicates out society in a fun exciting way. There is no musical number, but I don't think it needs it. I believe it absolutely deserved the Oscar at the Movie Awards.
If you haven't watched this movie yet, I suggest you do. It is fun and exciting. Something a little bit different.
I hope you enjoyed this review! There will be others.
Thank you
