There are a million different styles of writing and one thing to figure out is if its going to be modernist or traditional.

Modernist is the emotional drive of a character, a writers we latch on to these things and use them to our full advantage. So it could be a short story about man struggling with depression, not much happens plot wise, but there is so much going on emotionally.

Traditional is the action plot. The story that focuses on the movement of the story, rather than how the characters feel. There is obviously, some emotion in it, but it isn't heavily reliant on it.

You might be wondering why i am telling you, but it is something i learnt while at university. Sometimes its important to understand the dynamics of the techniques behind the story as well as what goes into it.

So, next time you have a moment and your typing or writing away, just stop and think what am i really focusing on here? Do I want so much emotion in this, or does it need more action amongst the characters. it is all about what makes your story move along in the most authentic way it can, so it is believable to the readers. This is a way of getting to know your story and to understand where it is heading and what it stands for to you.

Just a short one today, a little bit of brain food while you're writing. If you wish to find out more about this theory, then please get in touch.

Thank you and happy writing!
